Nannie Pie & Zwieback

I love when my mom comes to visit. She loves to spoil the grandkids, and I, of course, benefit as well! When she came most recently, she helped me rearrange so that Titus and Annaliese now share a room. Rearranging furniture is one of my mom's favorite pastimes, so it worked out well for all of us.

Here are Annaliese's bed and dresser....

...and Titus' crib and changing table all together in their room now.

The switch went surprisingly well for Annaliese, who like most of us, doesn't really like change. When she realized she gained a playroom out of it which gave us room to set up her Christmas present from Uncle Bryan, she was excited. She appropriate deemed the "baby place," a baby bed/high chair/bath/changing table/kitchenette.

Did I mention that my mom likes to spoil the grandkids? So she took us to a children's museum and got us an annual pass for our family. What a blessing!

Annaliese thought the sand at Kidspace was pretty great, but the water activities were her favorite!

Annaliese was "checking my heart like the doctor" because I actually got really sick and dehydrated while my mom was visiting. It was a huge bummer to be sick, but I was so thankful that she was here to take care of the kids... and ME. You know how it goes, where sometimes as a mom you want to call in sick but instead you have to just pop in a video and press on. Well this time I was so lucky to have relief from my mommy!

Annaliese has come to love making zwieback (a Mennonite traditional double-decker, twice risen bread roll that tastes buttery but still light and airy) at Nannie Pie's house. (Only the bottom half of one shown above.) Last time we visited she even got to help make strawberry jam, which always goes along with zwieback.

These were Annaliese's zwieback and I think hers might be better than mine! I need to work on forming them correctly so I don't smash all the air out of them!

I love this little "Butter" boy. Can you see where we get the nickname? He's just a ball of butter!

I love his puffy feet. Annaliese always used to cross her feet like this when she was a baby too.

Chubby toes.

Check out the knee, or lack thereof.

He wasn't quite stable enough to sit up on his own at this point.

He looks kind of mischievous here, don't you think?

Ha ha! Bye bye!

Didi, Papa and San Jose visit

Just prior to turning 6 months, Titus was introduced to his first "solids" meal, rice cereal mixed with mommy's milk, which he totally loved. He seriously downed it. Didi was here to visit and again got to witness her grandchild's first try at the spoon.

Didi was so kind as to fly down and help me drive up to San Jose since I hadn't driven that far by myself with the kids. It was during one of Andy's big test weeks so it worked out well for all of us (which he did great on by the way).

Papa Mac was having a grand old time singing the William Tell Overture with Titus.

As a bonus I got to visit my best friend in the world, Nikki. It was fun to have all the kids together too, but I forgot the camera. It was such a blessing to me, just to soak in the brief time with her. I miss her SOOO much. I've really been realizing what a treasure my friendships are to me, especially ones that have lasted the test of time and truly speak God's love and truth.

More yummy homemade carrot baby food.
